Carlos Alcaraz made an entire stadium laugh when he failed to name his favorite WTA player. Carlos Alcaraz confirmed his spot at the Australian Open quarterfinal on January 22. He was up against Serbias’ Miomir Kecmanovic, who was defeated 6-4, 6-4, 6-0 by Alcaraz.
After Alcaraz’s win, he was questioned by the former world number No. 1 Jim Courier during Alcaraz’s on-court interview. Alcaraz was asked to name some of his favorite players, he went on to name some of the legends of the game like Novak Djokovic, Daniil Medvedev, and others.
“Well, I’m a huge fan of tennis. I love to watch every match if I can but I love watching Daniil [Medvedev] for example, Novak [Djokovic], [Jannik] Sinner as well. I mean those guys, I like to watch, every time they step on the court, they put [their] best level. As a huge tennis fan, I like to watch pretty good tennis, high level, so those players or the best players in the world, I like to watch,” the 20-year-old replied.
Courier then went on to Ask the Spaniard about his favorite player in the WTA or the Women’s Tennis Association and Alcarazs’ reply produced a roar of laughter in the stadium.
“Well, I, I watch WTA as well,” he said, followed by laughter from the crowd at Rod Laver Arena. “No, I mean, when I can obviously, I mean when I turn the TV on, if it’s WTA, ATP, whatever, I like to watch,” Alcaraz added after failing to come up with a name.

world no.2’s reply to the question received mixed reactions as some thought he had no interest in WTA, and some even speculated that he was behaving so awkwardly after the question because he must be dating someone in the WTA.

This has led many to believe that it is the sole reason behind Alcarz’s awkwardness after the question, but at the end of the day, these are just baseless rumors. Alcaraz has no time for these rumors as he has a lot more important things to deal with.
Carlos Alcaraz will face the world no.6 Germany’s Alexander Zverev in his quarterfinal debut at the Australian Open on January 24. Alcaraz will be eyeing to progress in the tournament and take the trophy home but for that, he has to win three more games. Alcaraz can’t take Zverev lightly as he has a lead over Alcaraz on head-to-head and he will be looking to increase that lead on 24th January.
