Canelo Alvarez bringing his taco restaurant to the US

For years, Canelo Alvarez has treated his massive fanbase with victories after victories, knockouts after knockouts. And now, the undisputed super middleweight champion of the world is ready to give his fans in the United States a different kind of treat, as Canelo along with his brother Ricardo Alvarez is set to bring their taco restaurant chain to the US for the first time.

Canelo and Ricardo founded El Pastor Del Rica Taqueria in Zapopan, outside of Guadalajara, Mexico in 2018 and since then, have established a fame in the country. Now, the Alvarez brothers are aiming to set up their first taqueria overseas, with the upcoming branch being set up in Chula Vista, Southern California.

Aside from the authentic Mexican tacos such as pastor, tongue, tripe, chorizo, suadero and campechano, the menu at El Pastor Del Rica will also feature quesadillas as well as various naturally flavored fresh waters.

“We are going to bring what is the true Mexican taco,” said Ricardo to Telemundo 20, “The fresh waters are unique. There all the drinks are from machines. You should know that all of us in our family have dedicated ourselves to the paleterías of La Michoacana.”

Canelo facing Bivol on 7th May and Golovkin on 17th September

On one side, Canelo is prepping to launch his first taco restaurant in the US. On the other hand, the undisputed champ at 168 is gearing up for two back to back superfights this year as latest reports suggest that Canelo is close to signing a 2-fight deal with DAZN, which will see him face WBA light heavyweight champ Dmitry Bivol on May 7th, followed by a much-awaited trilogy fight with unified middleweight champ and Canelo’s former arch-rival, Gennadiy Golovkin on 17th September which will reportedly take place at 168.

The report about Canelo’s forthcoming deal with DAZN and the Bivol and GGG fights was made by Mike Coppinger of ESPN, who reported that the contract is “worth upward of $85 million” and the four-belt champion at 168 will be making a return to 175 to take on Dmitry Bivol, followed by a trilogy showdown against GGG.
