For months, the combat sports scene has been excited about seeing Hafthor Björnsson and Eddie Hall, two of the strongest men in the world, exchange blows inside the squared circle. And now, the “Heaviest Boxing Match in History” has finally gotten a confirmed date and venue, as Core Sports has announced that Björnsson vs Hall will be taking place in Dubai this 19th March.

Hafthor Björnsson and Eddie Hall will fight at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium

The fight, was originally announced back in May 2020 and the two former strongmen were originally slated to square off in September last year. However, in July, it was revealed that Hall had pulled out from the fight after suffering a bicep tear, pushing the fight into uncertain territories, as there were no immediate replacements available for Hall. Björnsson would later go on to face Arm Wrestling icon Devon Larratt on 18th September and won the fight via TKO in the first round.

Famed for portraying the character of “The Mountain” in Game of Thrones, the 6’9”Björnsson went down to a modest 145 kilograms (319.7 pounds) from his original 205 kilograms (452 pounds) weight.

Hall, on the other hand, has made a steady recovery from his injury and has cut his weight from the bulky 200kg “Beast’” the professional strongman image that all his fans knew him as, all the down to a more chiselled 158 kg with more definition in the abs. The 33-year-old has also slashed his daily intake of 12,000 calories to just 6,000 calories.
