Just a couple of days before its release, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is receiving a massive reprimand from the gaming community as the upcoming AA FPS title from Activision has announced some in-game items completely exclusive to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, which has agitated a major chunk of the fanbase.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is the 17th overall entry into the long-running Call of Duty franchise as well as the 6th instalment of the Black Ops series and is the direct sequel to the first Black Ops title.

Scheduled to hit the shelves and digital market on 13th November, the game will be released on Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.

However, on Friday it was revealed that the PlayStation releases will be getting some additional contents completely exclusive. Coming under the ‘Battle Pass Bundle Bonus’, these include two additional Create-A-Class slots, extra tier skips, extra weapon XP and exclusive double XP events, while the other platforms will not be getting these items. They will also get two two loadout slots.

In addition to the above, PS players will also reap the benefit of ‘PlayStation Party Bonus’, a 25% bonus weapon XP for players together in parties. A Double XP Bonus is also on the plate for PS players, in addition to Monthly Double XP events exclusive to Sony’s consoles.

It doesn’t end here yet, as the ‘Zombies Onslaught’, the two-player co-op mode will also be exclusive to PS4 and PS5 until 1st November 2021.

Following the announcement of the PlayStation exclusive items, several fans voiced their angst over the internet, calling out Activision and Sony for being ‘anti-consumer’ to the PC and Xbox players.

Several Reddit users accused the PS exclusivity is “crossing the line,” stating that purchasing the game on PC/Xbox will be a “waste of money” and also fumed that both Sony and Activision should “bow their heads in shame.”

Many reactions were also seen from Twitter, as users termed Black Ops Cold War as a “Play on PlayStation to win game”, calling it a “console advantage” as Xbox or PC players will have comparatively slower progress.
