Prior to signing with AEW, Bryan Danielson(Daniel Bryan in WWE) had headlined WrestleMania 37 in April this year alongside WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns and WWE Hall of Famer Edge. The bout was heavily hyped as the stars gave their all to display a memorable battle for the spectators. ‘The Tribal Chief’ retained his WWE Universal Championship after pinning Edge and Bryan simultaneously. Bryan Danielson reminisced the match and reflected on his feelings before heading out to the ring.
Bryan Danielson ‘felt so empty’ before the match
“When I walked out for the match at Wrestlemania, it felt so empty. Fans were cheering and all that kind of stuff. When I wrestle, I feel everything. What I remember most about that match is just feeling empty and thinking ‘oh man, I legitimately felt like am I gonna die… Is this a premonition that I’m gonna die?’ And I wasn’t even freaked out.”
The match at the ‘Grandest Stage of Them All’ marked Bryan Danielson’s last appearance on WWE’s big pay-per-view as he departed the company a month later following another loss to Roman Reigns in a Career vs. Title match on SmackDown.
The former WWE star then joined AEW, showing up to confront Kenny Omega at All Out in September. He recently made a heel turn and currently the No.1 contender for the AEW World Championship, which is held by ‘Hangman’ Adam Page.
Bryan Danielson took on Colt Cabana during this week’s AEW Dynamite as part of his mission to obliterate every member of The Dark Order en route to his AEW World Championship match with Hangman Page. “The American Dragon” picked up the win via submission, but not before he accidentally knocked out one of Cabana’s teeth. Danielson then held it up as a trophy after the match.
