Bob Arum, the renowned boxing promoter and CEO of Top Rank has made a daunting statement regarding the upcoming bout between Anthony Joshua and Kubrat Pulev, stating that the latter will come out as the winner.
British boxing superstar Anthony Joshua, who is the current WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO heavyweight champion of the world will be defending his title against Bulgarian pugilist Kubrat Pulev at the O2 Arena in London on 12th December.
While Joshua is a heavy favourite and is expected to retain his world heavyweight titles, Bob Arum believes Pulev will have the upper hand in the fight, citing the Brit’s sole career defeat against Andy Ruiz Jr.

Anthony Joshua will lose to the ‘tough, rugged heavyweight’ Kubrat Pulev, claims Bob Arum
Bob Arum recently appeared on the Gary Newbon Sports Show, where he outlined Joshua’s weakness from the Ruiz fight and stated that the heavyweight champion will be ‘vulnerable’ against the Bulgarian.
“I said ‘don’t make plans so quick for a Fury-Joshua fight because I think Pulev is going to beat Joshua,’ Arum said in the show.
“Let me explain my theory. Joshua got knocked out by Andy Ruiz, who is not a puncher, never been a puncher, and I know that because thirty odd fights that Ruiz had, we promoted.”
“He has quick hands, he’s not a bad heavyweight, but he’s not a puncher. He devastated Joshua and knocked him out,” the 88-year-old added.
The legendary promoter also recalled the second Joshua-Ruiz fight, pointing out the obesity of Ruiz being the reason behind his loss, which is not the case for the rough and tough Pulev.
“Then the second fight, what happened there?” Arum went on, “Joshua ran around the ring, Ruiz had celebrated so much and gotten so obese that he couldn’t catch him and that was the fight.
“So I think Joshua is still vulnerable and Pulev is a real tough, rugged heavyweight,” Arum concluded.
