It may have been almost ten months since Deontay Wilder had lost his WBC heavyweight title against a dominating Tyson Fury, but the American boxing icon continues to come up with justifications behind his loss and recently claimed that his water was tampered with muscle relaxers, irking a new controversy in the boxing scene.
Back on 22nd February this year, Deontay Wilder was dominated by Tyson Fury at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The bout was a rematch of the original from December 2018 that had ended in a controversial split decision.
In the second faceoff, Fury had mauled Wilder, knocking him down twice until a TKO in the 7th round made the British pugilist the new heavyweight champion. Nonetheless, Wilder has been making several reasons behind his loss since the fight and recently asserted that his water was spiked and was feeling weak during the match.
Deontay Wilder claims his water was spiked with muscle relaxers
Recently, talkSPORT reporter Michael Benson took to Twitter and quoted a shocker from Wilder, who even has pointed a finger at former world champion boxer Mark Breland for tampering his water.
“My water was spiked as if I took a muscle relaxer or something like that. My water was tampered with… It was like I had no control over my body, my legs were weak… I think he [Mark Breland] has got something to do with my water as well too,” Benson quoted Wilder on his tweet.
