ANDRADE WAS MISERABLE THE DAY HE ASKED FOR HIS RELEASE

The former NXT Champion asked for his release during the Raw taping last Monday. He dropped any mention of the promotion from his social media handles. He has been unused since October 2020, when he suffered a minor injury which was supposed to keep him out for a month.

According to latest reports, Andrade has not been granted a release from the company. The request having been denied, he will have to stay with WWE until the expiration of his contract. According to further reports, he was seen to be absolutely miserable on the day he asked for his release.

HIS SUCCESS WAS TRUNCATED ONCE HE ENTERED THE REALM OF THE MAIN ROSTER

A third-generation professional wrestler, he made his debut a month before his 14th birthday and worked under the name Brillante Jr. in reference to his father, who wrestled as Brillante. He is perhaps best known for his nearly eight-year tenure working for Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) under the name La Sombra.

As La Sombra, his career was marked with success. In CMLL, he won the 2007 Torneo Gran Alternativa tournament, the 2011 Universal Championship and at one point he was a triple champion; holding the Mexican National Trios Championship, NWA World Historic Welterweight Championship and CMLL World Tag Team Championship at the same time. He also made appearances for New Japan Pro-Wrestling, where he won the IWGP Intercontinental Champion.

He was one of the founding members of Los Ingobernables, whose offshoot Los Ingobernables de Japon (LIJ) is still active in New Japan Pro Wrestling.

Initially, the Andrade “Cien” Almas character was portrayed as a face, although without much depth to the character. However, after a heel turn alongside entertaining ringside management by Zelina Vega, he gained momentum, leading to his NXT Championship run. In the main roster, his ring name was truncated, and so was his success. He managed to win the United States Title once.
