“I know there have been people saying that I have asked players to trade for me, That’s just not true, period. I love my teammates, I cherish the state of Indiana and I’m focused on leading this franchise to a title.”

The ongoing rumours were catalysed after Oladipo was found to be requesting numerous players of other franchises if he could join them. To add salt to the injury, it is even being reported that the player approached the players right in front of his teammates. Several sources have validated Oladipo’s intent for a move by indulging with the opponents. According to the Indianapolis Star:

“It happened vs. the Toronto Raptors. It happened vs. the Miami Heat. It happened vs. the New York Knicks,”

“Can I come play with y’all?” Or some iteration of that puzzling statement,”

“That’s what Victor Oladipo said — in front of Indiana Pacers teammates — increasing the agitation with the star guard in the locker room, three league sources with direct knowledge of the situation stated,”

The 28-year-old is currently in his final year of the lucrative $85 million deal with the Pacers. Should he chose not to renew his contract, Oladipo will end up as a free agent at the end of 2020-21 NBA season.

Oladipo only mustered 19 appearances for the franchise last season due to a quad injury. In those games, he was able to register 4.5 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.9 assists for the team.

The 2-time all-star initially opted out of the league restart in the bio-bubble but changed his mind at the last second and travelled with the team to finish the halted season.
