Tyler Bass deactivated his social media accounts the following day. Bass just couldn’t shake down the guilt he was feeling after the missed kick. With only minutes left on the clock, Tyler Bass kicked the ball from 44 yards out aiming for an equalizer but it all went wrong when the wind seemed to misdirect his kick and bend it towards the right. Bass was devasted after the game, he was filled with guilt and took the entire blame for his team’s loss against the Kansas City Chiefs.

“Ultimately, it’s completely on me. I’ve got to do a better job,” Bass said. “I’ve got to do a better job of playing it a little bit more left when you have a left-to-right [wind]. I’ve been here long enough to know that you have to do that.”
Tyler Bass’ teammates come to his aid
Bass was interviewed in the locker room after the game where he spoke about how he has to do a better job, as it seemed deep down he felt he had betrayed and let down his teammates and the entire Buffalo Bills fanbase. But Bass’s teammates came to his aid and defended the placekicker.
“I wish he wouldn’t have been put in that situation,” quarterback Josh Allen said in a video conference. “You win as a team, you lose as a team. One play doesn’t define a game.”
“We have full confidence in Tyler,” head coach Sean McDermott added.
Tyler Bass is a reliable player and has proven himself in numerous challenging situations over the years for the Buffalo Bills, but he has to get mentally stronger and shake off these unfortunate and destructive moments. The 26-year-old has to remember that an athlete can be defeated numerous times in his career but he can never be destroyed.
