Tony Khan, the AEW President during his recent appearance on the Wrestling Fetish podcast opened up about a potential tie-up with WWE, a company which has a untold rivalry with AEW.
Tony Khan begs WWE to come to Jacksonville
During the interview, Tony Khan was asked if “the forbidden door” is open to NXT or WWE. Interestingly, he revealed that he is in favour of the idea of working with WWE. He said, “They are more than welcome. “
Khan had previously expressed his desire to work with WWE if they ever approaches to work with WWE. He added: “As I’ve said before, the forbidden door is open anytime. Just come and knock. If they were to knock on the door, I would certainly be willing to let them in.”
He was asked if WWE invading AEW would be similar to when DX turned up on WCW Nitro. Khan said disagreed with it and highlighted on the fact that Eric Bischoff wanted WWE to come inside and he wants something similar to it. He said: “Come in, please. I would love that. Come to Jacksonville, I’m begging you.”
Tony Khan differentiates AEW from other promotions
AEW has become a popular promotion with bunch of talented stars. Khan spoke how it is different from other promotions in the industry. He further spoke on AEW’s partnership with other promotions. Currently, AEW is working with NJPW as well as IMPACT Wrestling.
Tony Khan said that he is very honest with the people he works with. He said: “The biggest thing in relationships for me is I treat people really well, and I’m very honest with them.”
He added: “That’s why people like to work here, whether its AEW or the Jaguars. I do think that sets us apart from other wrestling companies. But in dealing with other companies, I try to treat them the same way as I treat my own [employees].”
It is to be seen whether WWE comes forward to work with AEW and it would certainly a visionary treat for the fans to witness the talents from both the promotions.
