Tony Khan was never in favor of a hair vs hair match between the top stars of the promotion. But, the match was heavily rumored and the fans considered the match would take place eventually.

Britt Baker and Thunder Rosa previously feuded for several months from late 2020 until March 2021. Their feud famously climaxed in a widely-praised Lights Out Match, with Rosa emerging victorious.

It was Baker’s ton of t-shirts with her bloody face on them which were widely sold during her gruesome unsanctioned match with Thunder Rosa. A new line of action figures features that bloody grin as well.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted that Tony Khan said that he would never consider a Baker vs Rosa hair vs hair match for a second. It’s unclear who got that rumor going, but he shut it down.

“Regarding the hair vs hair idea for a Britt Baker vs. Thunder Rosa blow-off match, Tony Khan said he would never consider doing this even for a fraction of a second”

Baker is currently the AEW Women’s Champion and she will defend her title against Ruby Soho at AEW Grand Slam on September 22nd. Thunder Rosa signed with AEW full time since her feud with Baker after getting out of her NWA contract.

We’ll have to see if Britt Baker and Thunder Rosa have any more epic encounters down the road. Speaking about Britt Baker, she might even be involved in a storyline with his real-life boyfriend, Adam Cole, who recently joined the promotion.

He has also expressed his desire to be involved in programming with Baker in the future. He had stated: “But the idea of eventually getting to work with her onscreen is really cool. We only got to work together for a little bit on the independents right before I went to NXT. I had a blast. Whether it’s matches or promos, I really enjoyed it. Eventually, I would love to do some stuff with Britt.”
