In a surprising turn of events, former NFL quarterback Teddy Bridgewater is coming out of retirement, according to a report by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Bridgewater, who retired from the NFL after the 2023 season following a 10-year professional career, is expected to re-sign with the Detroit Lions, the team he last played for.

Teddy Bridgewater’s Journey
Bridgewater, a first-round pick by the Minnesota Vikings in 2014, has had a tumultuous career marked by injuries and transitions. After suffering a severe knee injury in 2016, Bridgewater spent time with several teams, including the New Orleans Saints, Carolina Panthers, Denver Broncos, and Miami Dolphins. He last played for the Lions in the 2023 season, serving as the backup quarterback behind Jared Goff.
High School Coaching Success
Following his retirement, Teddy Bridgewater took up coaching at Miami Northwestern Senior High School, his alma mater. Under his leadership, the team won the Class 3A Florida High School Athletic Association state title, finishing the season with a 12-2 record. Teddy Bridgewater’s success as a coach reignited his passion for football, leading to his decision to return to the NFL.
Return to the Lions
The Detroit Lions have added depth to their quarterback roster with Bridgewater’s return. Teddy Bridgewater will join Jared Goff and Hendon Hooker in the quarterback room, providing valuable experience and leadership.
