Boxing legend Sugar Ray Leonard revealed that he has high expectations for the much awaited upcoming clash between Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia, and believes that many boxers should take this fight as an example and face the best possible rivals.

Gervonta Davis vs. Ryan Garcia, set to take place on April 22nd in Las Vegas, Nevada has aroused a lot of interest as they are two current American boxing superstars. In addition, they have an undefeated record and have shown great skills above the ring.

Speaking to Jeff Zimmerman in a recent interview, “Sugar” recognized the level of both fighters and did not hesitate to compare this confrontation when he himself faced other legends such as Roberto Durán, Marvin Hagler, and Tommy Hearns.
“That type of fights (Davis vs. Garcia) is like when I fought Tommy Hearns, when I fought Marvin Hagler and Roberto Durán. That expectation makes you better. The anticipation for that fight is enormous. I can’t wait to see it,” said Leonard.
Leonard further stated that the other world champions in modern boxing, as well as several other stars in the sport today, should take Garcia and Davis as an example to face the best possible opponents.
“There is so much talent today that I can’t understand why champions don’t fight champions. I’m not going to name names, but there’s so much incredible talent, they have to fight each other, they have to compete with each other. If you think you’re the best, go out there and prove you’re the best,” Leonard added.
