Ryan Garcia (23-0, 19 KOs), the undefeated Lightweight star has his aim fortified on Gervonta Davis, but in case all pieces don’t fall into place, he has a plan B, and that is former unified Lightweight champ Teofimo Lopez at light welterweight.

Ryan Garcia said he feels “way better” fighting at light welterweight

Just three months after his unanimous decision win over Emmanuel Tagoe, “King Ryan” marked his 23rd professional career victory as the 23-year-old took out Javier Fortuna via 6th round KO in a Light Welterweight bout at the Crypto.com Arena in LA this Saturday night.

In the post fight press conference, the former interim champion at 135 said that he felt much better in fighting at 140 and as he sees no point in going back to lightweight, Garcia called out “Tank” for a contest at Light Welterweight.

“I felt way better (fighting at 140),” Garcia told Chris Mannix in the ring, “I’m not going back down to 135 for nothing, but I will fight Tank next, if Tank wants that at 140,” Garcia went on, “That’s gonna give me the respect I deserve. I’m never afraid, I have a spirit of competition in me, and you’re gonna see that come out when I fight Tank and whoop his ass.” [H/T Bad Left Hook]

However, in case the fight with Davis doesn’t happen, Garcia says he will shift his focus on making a fight with Teofimo Lopez, the former WBA (Super), IBF, and WBO lightweight champion. Since losing his belts to George Kambosos Jr. in November last year, Lopez has also moved up to 140 and will be seen in action against Pedro Campa in Las Vegas next month.

“If that fight for some reason doesn’t happen, which I don’t see that happening, but if it doesn’t happen, I want to fight Teofimo Lopez at 140,” Garcia added. [H/T Boxing247.com]

While he contemplates alternate options for the Davis fight, Garcia has no alternate thought in mind about what the outcome will be if the two unbeaten pugilists step inside the squared circle.

“I won’t just beat tank, I will make it look like there was no reason for him to be in the ring with me. Easy Easy Lemon Squeezy,” Garcia tweeted yesterday.
