The 2021 edition of Royal Rumble, one of the most awaited WWE event of the year, has been held, with resilient Bianca Belair and Edge overcoming all odds to become the winner of their respective 30 man match.
EDGE ENTERED AT NUMBER 1 AND WON THE ROYAL RUMBLE
In the men’s Royal Rumble match, Edge entered the match at number 1, facing his partner turned archenemy Randy Orton. Orton, however, spent most of the match outside the ring, as he was apparently being treated for a leg injury. Orton, however, was not eliminated, and returned when the resilient Edge seemed to have won the match. The trick did not pay off in the end, as Edge eliminated Orton to win his second Rumble and earn a World Championship match at Wrestlemania.
One of the main attractions of Royal Rumble is its surprises. This year, the first was the return of Carlito, an occasion which has been repeatedly predicted over the last few years. Carlito, and his apple, were not the only surprises in the Rumble. A returning Seth Rollins, NXT’s Damian Priest, Kane and The Hurricane appeared in the match.
The most important and impactful surprise was the return of Christian. Christian, making his first ‘real’ in-ring return since his retirement due to injury, soon joined Edge for an emotional in-ring embrace. “Captain Charisma” even reached the final four of the match, before finally getting eliminated.
