The current WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns has voiced his opinions on the negative fan reactions over his WrestleMania victory.
ROMAN REIGNS RETAINED HIS CHAMPIONSHIP AT THE MAIN EVENT OF WRESTLEMANIA
After Reigns’ Elimination Chamber victory over Daniel Bryan, Royal Rumble winner Edge finally announced his decision to face him at WrestleMania 37. However, Bryan also pursued Reigns for another championship match, mocking the Champion for defending the title against him immediately after Bryan had won SmackDown’s Elimination Chamber match. At Fastlane, Bryan faced “The Tribal Chief” for the championship once again, with Edge acting as the special guest enforcer. The Champion managed to retain even after tapping out to Bryan when Edge attacked both men with a steel chair.
Later, WWE official and authority figure Adam Pearce announced that the Champion would defend the Universal Championship against Bryan and Edge in a triple threat match at WrestleMania. The match was later set to be the Main Event of Night 2 of the event.
After a hard-hitting, dramatic main event, Reigns took advantage of a Jey Uso interference and hit the con-chair-to on Edge, following it up by stacking Edge on a fallen Daniel Bryan, pinning both to retain his Championship.
THE FAN REACTION TO THE WIN WAS NEGATIVE
The reaction to the title retention has been quite negative on social media. People clearly wanted the comeback hero Edge win the title. Daniel Bryan, whose full-time run with WWE is in the final days, was also a fan favourite whom the fans wanted to replicate his WrestleMania 30 glory.
“I think the way I can fight is to just continue to do what I do ? to continue to show up. What I and everybody in WWE thinks is to go out there and work hard and continue to show why I am the guy. It’s not easy doing this every single day, going to every single town, and getting a reaction. And that’s what I do regardless of whether it’s all cheers, a mixed reaction, or heavy boos. We have to look at it as a global company,” Reigns said about the negative fan reaction.
