A video of Atalanta Hawks player Rajon Rando and his girlfriend being involved in a parking lot scuffle has surfaced. The incident, which apparently took place on July 28 in Los Angeles is moving forward with the victim having pressed charges on the player and his better half.
The two-time NBA Champion recently joined the Atalanta Hawks after a championship-winning season with the Lakers.
In the video obtained by TMZ devoid of audio, Rondo’s girlfriend, whose identity has not been revealed so far, is seen throwing punches at the plaintiff Toktam Jorshari. The scuffle broke out as a result of a parking dispute where the victim parked her car close to Rondo’s $300,000 Rolls-Royce, which was parked in the handicapped spot.
This apparently angered Rondo’s girlfriend who started having a row with Jorshari. He is seen pulling back his girlfriend from confrontation and pushing Jorshari back at the same time. However, his efforts were futile as along with words being exchanged, punches started to land too with the plaintiff not retaliating.
As a result of this, the duo have been slapped with a lawsuit which Jorshari filed on the grounds of assault and battery, infliction of emotional distress, and conspiracy. Also, she is seeking $1 million in damages. Check out the video right below:
Rondo’s attorney believes the client did no wrong
Mark D. Baute, who is representing Rondo in this case asserted that his client did nothing wrong. He stated that Rondo’s car was in the handicapped spot since the player was recovering from a thumb injury suffered during the NBA Playoffs.
However, since each state possesses different laws for handicapped parking, it is yet to see whether Rondo was eligible or received the permit to park in the spot.
“Mr. Rondo tried to prevent them from any further interaction, which was awkward due to (a) his thumb being broken, and (b) the plaintiff not wearing a mask,” Baute said in a statement.
After a two-year stint with the Lakers, he signed with the seventh NBA franchise of his career. After signing a deal with the Atalanta Hawks in November, the player was not involved during their season opener win against the Chicago Bulls.
