After a hiatus of two years, PGL is all set to return with the next edition of CSGO Major this year, with an astounding prize pool of $2 million, the biggest ever in the history of the world famous eSports title.

After the Cluj-Napoca Major in 2015 and followed by Kraków Major in 2017, the PGL MAJOR STOCKHOLM 2021 will be the third CSGO Major to be conducted by PGL as well as the first ever Major hosted in Sweden.

As of now, the Major is tentatively scheduled to be hosted at the Ericsson Globe in the Swedish capital between October 23rd and November 7th of 2021, provided all COVID protocols and regulations of that time will allow the event as it is set to feature live spectators.

The tournament will see participation from 24 teams, identified through a series of Regional Major Ranking (RMR) events throughout the year. At least one RMR event will be offline while the others are slated to be online.

The total prize pool has been set at $2 million, the highest of any CSGO tournament in history.

The MAJOR STOCKHOLM 2021 will be the first Major to be broadcasted in 4k 60fps. PGL will also implement several new features this time, such as brand new custom HUD and innovative Augmented Reality elements to name a few.

“First of all, my colleagues and I are passionate fans of CS. We grew up and watched this game getting bigger and bigger, just at the same pace as our development as a company,” Silviu Stroie, the CEO of PGL was quoted on the official PGL website.

We have timeless memories with our past Counter-Strike shows, and, honestly, we owe a lot to this game, as players and as a company. We believe that this community deserves the best product this franchise has ever seen. Our goal is to celebrate the game in the best way possible, and we will work hard for this,” Stroie added.
