WWE Champion Drew McIntyre has made his opinions about Shaquille O’Neal’s pro wrestling talent known to the world.
MCINTYRE BELIEVES O’NEAL COULD HAVE BEEN A TREMENDOUS PRO-WRESTLER
In a recent conversation with TMZ, the WWE Champion made his opinions known. According to him, If O’Neal failed in his NBA career, he could always have carved a successful pro wrestling career for himself, as he has the talents to succeed in the business.
“If he didn’t get into basketball, he definitely would have succeeded in the world of WWE. One-hundred percent, based on the size alone. He would have been a heck of a WWE Superstar — a spectacle — like an Andre the Giant, but add on that personality on top of it? That’s box office,” McIntyre says.
SHAQ’S BASKETBALL CAREER SPEAKS FOR HIMSELF
However, Shaq can be termed anything but failure on a review of his basketball career. O’Neal’s individual accolades include the 1999–2000 Most Valuable Player (MVP) Award, the 1992–93 NBA Rookie of the Year award, 15 All-Star Game selections, three All-Star Game MVP awards, three Finals MVP awards, two scoring titles, 14 All-NBA team selections, and three NBA All-Defensive Team selections.
He is one of only three players to win NBA MVP, All-Star Game MVP and Finals MVP awards in the same year. He ranks 8th all time in points scored, 6th in field goals, 15th in rebounds, and 8th in blocks. Due to his ability to dunk the basketball and score from close range, O’Neal also ranks third all time in field goal percentage (58.2%).
About Shaq’s WWE appearances, McIntyre says: “I have been around Shaq, multiple times, over the years. As we know, Shaq appears everywhere, he’s a very busy man. He keeps himself busy and he’s shown up in WWE a few times. I was there when himself and the Big Show had a face-off. Shaq is considerably taller, which I don’t think Big Show was so happy about. He’s a big, big man, and very charismatic.”
HE HAS A WRESTLING MATCH COMING UP
While not in WWE, O’Neal has a major pro wrestling match coming up next month in the budding All Elite Wrestling (AEW) promotion.
