The former EVOLVE star Asher Hale made his debut on this week’s edition of NXT and had a battle with Cameron Grimes. One of the fans took a shot at him following his match and called him a WWE star ‘ rip-off.’
Asher Hale called as Shane Thorne ‘rip off’
Asher Hale made his debut on this week’s episode of NXT and it has been on the cards for sometime now. The former EVOLVE star clashed with Cameron Grimes on his debut match. He had a back and forth battle but lost his debut match.
Following his debut on the gold and black brand, he took to his official Twitter handle and posted his couple of pictures. He captioned the post with: “New beginnings! Asher Hale has arrived.”
Fans these days have the ability to connect with the stars through social media. But, some fans never hesitate to opine and as it turns out, one of the fans was not impressed with Asher Hale.
He was compared with WWE star Shane Thorne, who is known as former RETRIBUTION member, Slapjack. This fan wrote to Hale saying that “you look like a rip off Shane Thorne.”
The comment could have made other stars furious but Asher Hale responded in a different and cool way. He simply said: “Sweet.”
WWE files trademark for Asher Hale
WWE filed to trademark the “Asher Hale” ring name on April 30. He went by the name Anthony Henry while working in EVOLVE.
The following use description was included with the USPTO (United States Patent & Trademark Office) filing:
“IC 040. US 100 103 106. G & S: Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer rendered live and through broadcast media including television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online service; providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment via an online community portal; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information; fan club services, namely, organizing sporting events in the field of wrestling for wrestling fan club members; organizing social entertainment events for entertainment purposes for wrestling fan club members; providing online newsletters in the fields of sports entertainment; online journals, namely blogs, in the field of sports entertainment”
His match was the first of many to come on the NXT brand. We have to wait and see what is in store for him in the future.
