Los Angeles Clippers bounced back from their Game 4 loss to thrash the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday night in Game 5 of the NBA playoffs. Paul George was in splendid form scoring 35 points in a blowout win. Jamal Murray scored 33 of his 42 points in a second half where he played every minute as Denver Nuggets beat Utah Jazz to avoid elimination from the NBA playoffs. Donovan Mitchell finished with 30 points for Utah, who still lead the Nuggets 3-2 with Game 6 on Thursday.

Los Angeles Clippers 154 – 111 Dallas Mavericks

The Clippers absolutely decimated the Mavericks, 154-111 to take a 3-2 lead in the series. More importantly, they got many of their struggling players to perform in a crucial game. Paul George and Montrezl Harrell combined for 56 points, and the team as a whole hit 22 3-pointers to take the lead in the series. Despite the series so far, the Clippers showed their impressive bench strength which could be extremely strenuous to match. Kawhi Leonard also joined in with 32 points in the game to score 30+ points for the fourth consecutive game.

Montrezl Harrell recorded 19 points and 11 rebounds. As many as six players scored in double figures for Los Angeles. Their tally of 154 points is the third-most all-time in NBA playoff history.

Game 5 was a rough one for Luka Doncic and the Mavericks, who were playing without Kristaps Porzingis. Porzingis hasn’t played in this series since going off for 34 points against the LA Clippers in Game 3. The Latvian has been sitting out with a right knee injury.

Coming off one of the greatest performances in NBA playoff history, Doncic managed 22 points, eight rebounds and four assists in Game 5. He struggled to knock down shots efficiently (6-17 FGs; 1-6 3’P) and committed 5-13 turnovers.

Dallas coach Rick Carlisle was ejected in the 3rd quarter of the fiery game, which included six technicals and a flagrant-1 foul.

Paul George Returns To Form

After a barren run in the playoffs until now, Paul George returned to his devastating best. He knocked 35 points in just 25 minutes of the game, shooting 12-of-18 from the field and 4-of-8 from the deep.

There is no doubt that the Clippers easily had their best game of the series with a 154-111 win over Dallas and Paul George was instrumental in the domination of Game 5. He has become the first player to score 35+ points in 25 minutes or fewer in NBA playoff history since 1975.

The All-Star duo of Paul George and Kawhi Leonard clicking together has to be a huge cause for concern for both the Dallas Mavericks and other Western Conference teams.
