During the NASCAR Truck Series race at Circuit of The Americas (COTA), something really unusual happened to Marco Andretti. His No. 04 Chevrolet race truck unexpectedly lost its entire rear-end housing while speeding around the track. This kind of thing has never been seen before in NASCAR, so it was quite shocking.
Because safety is such a big deal in NASCAR, the Vice President of Competition decided to look into what happened. He stood up and announced that there would be an investigation into the incident. When he shared some insights about what might have caused it, it was a way to start understanding how something like this could happen and how to prevent it in the future.
However, prioritizing the paramount importance of safety, he assured that they would diligently investigate the matter at their R&D center to prevent such incidents from occurring again in the future. Nevertheless, the incident was truly extraordinary. Let’s delve into what transpired at COTA.
What happened with the incident and how it affected Andretti?
As Andretti spun suddenly in Turn 11, the No. 04 Roper Racing entry slid across the track and veered off the racing surface. The rear end housing, which is a critical component of the truck, rolled across the track and eventually came to rest in the grass.
Unfortunately, this incident cut short Andretti’s race. He finished the day in 31st place. Meanwhile, Corey Heim emerged victorious, securing his first win of the season.
