Marc Gasol relates his role in Lakers to an iconic Pulp Fiction character

Marc Gasol played a critical role in the Lakers’ nervy 93-89 win over Denver Nuggets at the Staples Center. Following a 17-minute display, the veteran center compared his role in the currents Lakers side to a character in the movie Pulp Fiction.

The former defensive player of the year notched 7 rebounds, 2 assists, and 10 points to keep the chase on for the fifth spot in the Western Conference table.

The 36-year-old, who has played for a string of franchises such as Memphis Grizzlies and Toronto Raptors, has had a mixed debut campaign for the defending champions. He contracted COVID and was forced to miss nine games in the middle of the season as well.

Injuries to Anthony Davis and LeBron James have resulted in the side taking a huge dip in the table and currently have a 37-28 record being sixth in the league only marginally behind Dallas Mavericks.

While Davis has returned back from his layoff, former MVP LeBron James is struggling and is expected to sit out the next game.

The absence of LeBron has spurred up the other players to step up including the likes of Denis Schroder and Kyle Kuzma. The integration of Gasol from the bench is also playing the factor, as the player himself compared his role to the one of Mr.Wolf in the movie Pulp Fiction, who was the fixer-upper.

“I’m fine on that Mr. Wolf role, You just come in whenever things aren’t going great and kind of help everyone. So, I accepted it. I’ll try to do as best as possible at that role.” said Gasol

Harvey Keitel played the role of Mr. Wolf in the 1994 film which has emerged to be a cult classic over the years. The fim directed by Quentin Tarantino poses several characters and references through which it remains relevant to this day.

Gasol and co. will have to cope up without LeBron for the next two games

After returning back from injury, LeBron James contested in Lakers’ losses to Sacramento Kings and Toronto Raptors with a combined 28-minute stint on the court.

Unfortunately, the injury was aggravated and he was forced to sit out the game against Nuggets and reportedly, will miss the games against LA Clippers and Portland TrailBlazers as well.
