Solskjaer wants to replace de Gea

Schmeichel has proved to be a consistent performer and starred during Leicester’s run to the Champions League quarter-finals three years ago.

But, the 33 year old Leicester Goalkeeper has also committed some high profile errors.

Schmeichel gifted Bournemouth a way back into the game in the 4-1 defeat at the Vitality Stadium and was tackled by Jesse Lingard in the dying minutes of their 2-0 defeat to United.

However, that has not stopped Solskjaer from reportedly deciding that he wants the 33-year-old to join the club.

Solskjaer is desperate for a trusted keeper as he prepares for a Premier League title challenge and the club’s return to the Champions League next season.

United boss has doubts over whether Henderson, 23, is ready for the top job, despite a remarkable season on loan at Sheffield United.

“It’s a different job to be playing for Sheffield United and for Manchester United. He’s got different roles and for me, the two years he’s had have been fantastic development,” Solskjaer said.

United Goalkeeper, David de Gea has been off form recently

“He’s had to play with men, he’s had to play against men, he’s played in the Championship, and plays in a team that play fantastic football and exciting football.

“And as the stats show he’s proved worthy of quite a few points.

“He’s learning all the time, he’s a passionate ‘keeper that wants to be the best, he’s developing, he’s got good coaching there and, I’ve said it before, one day he’ll be England No 1 and Man Utd No 1 and it’s up to him to keep developing.”

The Norwegian apparently can no longer offer his blind support to error-prone de Gea, 29 and wants Kasper Schmeichel to follow his father’s footsteps and join United.
