Romelu Lukaku has turned out to be a rejuvenated figure at Inter Milan, since joining the club last summer. The 27-year old smacked a total of 34 goals in 51 appearances in all competitions.

After failing to live up to his standards at Manchester United, this was something of a reversal. He was a similar beast at Everton beforehand. Basically, during his time under Ronald Koeman. The Dutch coach brought the best out of the Anderlecht prospect.

Under his stewardship in a solo season, the Belgian hit 25 goals in the premier league. He was right up there with Harry Kane and Sergio Aguero in the scoring list of the 2016/17 season. The relationship between them was so brilliant that after Lukaku’s departure, Koeman lost his job at Everton with the sting of bad results.

Now, Romelu opened up a bit of the personality Ronald Koeman carried in the dressing room. The manager, now responsible to carry FC Barcelona back to its best, is being praised by his former student.

Speaking to former Dutch footballer Andy van der Meyde on his YouTube show, Lukaku recalled his time with Koeman at Goodison Park.

He said, “I love Koeman. Before he arrived I wanted to leave Everton, but after our first conversation, I realized that he is honest and open and that it wouldn’t be bad to play for him. I’m very happy that I had him as my coach. He was strict, but that’s what I needed”

From his statement, it is clear that Koeman will bring a different set of philosophies and vigour to Barcelona. The Netherland born boss is handling a tough period of the Catalan giants. However, looking by his stature he won’t be a novice in the situation.

Koeman oversaw his first competitive victory as Barca boss for his side came out 4-0 winners over Villarreal. He was in a tussle with the handling of Luis Suarez whose now departed to Atletico Madrid. Lionel Messi could be fairly unhappy. But just like the case with Lukaku, Koeman might establish a strong bond with the Argentine maestro.
