While for many, the contest is laughable and utterly one-sided, WBA (Super) super middleweight champion of the world Canelo Álvarez recently garnered attention over his comments towards the Mayweather-Paul bout, or the idea of exhibition fights in general which he believes is a matter of disrespect and claimed non-boxers should not get boxing licenses.

“I truly believe that it’s a lack of respect,” Canelo spoke to TMZ last week, “It’s all based on money. It’s all for money.”

“I don’t think we would agree that people that are basketball players, that are YouTubers [should] get [boxing] licenses. Ya know, I don’t criticize. This is a very risky sport, and if you go up there, it’s very risky,” the Mexican pugilist, who recently defeated Callum Smith via UD, added.

Canelo is salty: Logan Paul issues a flaming response to the Mexican

Now, Logan Paul himself has spoken up against Canelo, lambasting him as the ‘boxer who failed drug test twice’ and with an exclamatory f-word.

“I think he’s the guy who got caught using steroids twice,” Paul spoke to The Night Shift Gaming’s Mike Majlak, mentioning the two tests Canelo had failed in 2018.

“You wanna talk about ‘disrespecting boxing’, let’s talk about a guy who didn’t play by the rules. F*** you!” the 25-year-old added.

Furthermore, Logan Paul also claimed that Canelo is jealous of the matchup, referring to the Mexican’s single career defeat against Mayweather in 2013 while Paul himself has ‘a chance to beat’ the 50-0 boxing legend.

“I think he’s salty because I get a chance to beat Mayweather and he lost to him. It’s his one loss,” Logan went on, “I get the shot that he failed to do.”
