Anthony Joshua has commended Katie Taylor, the undisputed female lightweight champion of the world and Olympics gold medallist as a ‘phenomenal’ star in the sport and believes the Irish boxing icon will become a legendary figure in the sport.

There have been very few in the history of boxing who have a career as decorated as Katie Taylor. Nicknamed “The Bray Bomber”, Katie has held the WBA title since 2017, the IBF title since 2018 and the WBC, WBO, and Ring magazine titles since 2019.

Anthony Joshua at a loss of words on praising Katie Taylor

As Katie Taylor prepares to take on the WBA interim lightweight champion Miriam Gutiérrez on Saturday, 14th November in a behind-closed-doors show at The Wembley Arena in London, Anthony Joshua sheds some choicest acclamation over the former in an interview with Sky Sports.

“She’s phenomenal,” said Joshua, “I can’t even put it into words. She’s special.”

“Sometimes you get a few fighters that come along in this world and they’re special, and they leave a mark,” he continued, “She’ll definitely be one of those people that leave a mark on the boxing industry.”

Katie Taylor reacts to Chantelle Cameron’s comment of making her ‘crumble’

WBC female light-welterweight title holder Chantelle Cameron recently made a viral statement where the Brit claimed she would ‘crumble’ Katie Taylor, asserting that she has been studying the undisputed champion’s weaknesses.

“She doesn’t like pressure. She stands there to have a fight but she isn’t very powerful,” Cameron said earlier this week, “She has massive hand speed but she can’t overpower me or outwork me. She wouldn’t handle that and will crumble.”

Katie herself has retaliated to the statement, emphasising she is not a boxer who would be easily crumbled.

“I’m just focused on Saturday night right now and if the fight happens between myself and Chantelle, we can see then who crumbles,” the 34-year-old added.
