In a recent interview, former WWE star, JTG spoke about the faction, Cryme Tyme Cenation alongside member of Cryme Tyme, Shad Gaspard and John Cena.
JTG recalled Cryme Tyme Cenation days
Cryme Tyme was the faction in WWE consisting of JTG and Shad Gaspard. In 2007, the team was fired from WWE. Next year, they returned to the company.
Following their return and within a span of three months they formed a faction alongside the 15 time WWE Champion, John Cena and called the stable Cryme Tyme Cenation. They began to work in the live events. John Cena who was then in feud with JBL, getting help from Cryme Tyme destroyed JBL’s limousine.
Unfortunately, the faction was disbanded abruptly exactly the way it was formed. One of the causes was the injury suffered by John Cena at the hands of Batista during their match at Summerslam 2008.
JTG explained that it was a sudden plan of the trio to come together and WWE didn’t have plans to continue with the faction.
JTG said, “It was a week-by-week thing, I didn’t even know when we were gonna be paired with John. I don’t even know when it ended, it was kind of like, ‘No John this week? Okay. No John this week, either? Ok. He came back from injury? Huh, okay. Alright, I guess we are not together no more.'”
JTG was hit with nostalgia when he remembered the day of formation of the faction. Teaming with John Cena had helped them main event many shows. He said, “I still remember the day they told us about teaming up with John. It was July 7, 2008, I believe. I definitely remember the date. And working with him was great behind the scenes, I had fun, I learned a lot from him. And that was one of the rare, rare times that Shad and I main evented on some of the house shows.”
JTG began his career in Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW). He had formed a team with Shad Gaspard and were called themselves The Gang-Stars. They have won OVW Southern Tag Team Championship twice.
In 2006, the team debuted in Raw renaming themselves as Cryme Tyme. After working with John Cena, they have had several attempts of winning the tag team titles but failed. After their spell in WWE, they moved to the independent circuit and worked for a brief stint. They wrestled a match at former WWE wrestler, Santino Marella’s Battle Arts promotion. It was their last match as Shad Gaspard passed away earlier this year.
