JON MOXLEY WAS ASSAULTED BY THE YOUNG BUCKS

Jon Moxley, partnered with Eddie Kingston, faced The Young Bucks for the latter’s AEW World Tag Team Championships at the 2021 edition of Double Or Nothing. During the end of the match, The Young Bucks hit several of their BTE Triggers on the former World Champion. Kingston and Mox lost the tag team match, and prior to Dynamite, the Young Bucks continued unleashing attack on Mox, leading to him getting shelved off regular AEW programming.

From the commentary table at this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, Excalibur revealed that “The Death Rider” is out of action, that too for an indefinite period of time. The reason attributed to it is, of course, the attack by The Young Bucks, particularly the BTE Triggers.

POSSIBLE REASONS BEHIND THE INDEFINITE TIME-OFF

While Moxley may be really injured, with the break for him to revitalize himself from the injury, it is likely that he has been given some time off to prepare for the birth of his daughter with wife Renee Paquette. The “indefinite” terminology makes one think that he will not be seen at television for quite some time.

Mox and Paquette married in an impromptu ceremony at their home in the early hours of April 9, 2017. In November 2020, Moxley matter-of-factly revealed on AEW Dynamite that he and Paquette were expecting their first child. Paquette at times share pictures of her baby bump on social media and the name of the daughter has also been revealed: Nora.

However, it is also possible that the break is a way to advance the storyline and the former Champion will take some time off to sell the kayfabe injuries imposed upon him by the heel tag team.

Eddie Kingston was ready, set and going on this week’s episode of Dynamite, running out to save Penta El Cero Miedo and Pac from an assault by Matt and Nick Jackson. When Moxley returns, it is possible he will take the same route, continuing his feud against the company Executive Vice Presidents.
