The return of John Cena to WWE television has long been seen as inevitable, and according to the latest reports, it seems more imminent than ever.
JOHN CENA MAY RETURN TO WWE LATER THIS MONTH
According to recent reports, John Cena may appear on WWE television after an absence of a year and a few months following his highly cinematic loss at the hands of “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania 36. “The Franchise Player” is almost certain to face “The Head Of The Table” Roman Reigns at the upcoming edition of WWE Summerslam. The professional wrestling promotion is intent on promoting Summerslam as a major event, and the presence of one of their all-time greats may boost both prestige and viewership.
However, the reported match for the WWE Universal Championship will need a buildup to stand on. Fightful Select has reported a date to begin the build-up. According to them, “The Leader Of Cenation” may return on the July 23 episode of WWE SmackDown Live, the brand’s post-Money In The Bank show. WWE shall be back on the road by then and the show will be held at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland, Ohio.
HE HAS NOT BEEN SEEN IN THE WWE RING SINCE HIS LOSS AT WRESTLEMANIA 36
The penultimate match of the second night of WrestleMania 36 involved John Cena and “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt. The former came out for his match in the Performance Center, assuming his match was taking place in the ring. Wyatt was then shown in the Firefly Fun House, stating that he would actually be facing himself before exiting through the fun house’s door. “The Franchise Player” was then teleported to the Firefly Fun House.
After a series of dream sequences, Wyatt defeated his opponent. Following Wyatt’s victory, the motionless body of the vanquished opponent vanished from the middle of the ring Big Match John has not been seen in WWE since then and has largely been focused on his acting career.
He has been muddled by controversies as well, as he inadvertently caused a Taiwan-China discussion while promoting F9, leading to an apology by the record-tying World Championship in WWE to the citizens of PRC.
