WWE star John Cena could not sustain the wrath of WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns at Saturday’s SummerSlam pay-per-view and fell another victim of ‘The Tribal Chief’. It seems that after failing to become the record 17-time World Champion, Cena is likely take some time off WWE.

John Cena took to social media to address the defeat. He showed his appreciation towards the WWE Universe for allowing him the opportunity to return and perform once again.

In his tweet, Cena also thanked the staff members of WWE and also showed his appreciation towards the fellow stars and most importantly towards the fans.

The 16-time World Champion thanked his fans for giving him a memorable summer at “home” with his “family”. Cena concluded his tweet by stating that his journey will take him away now, which indicates that he will go on a hiatus.

Cena concluded his heartfelt message by assuring the fans that he will see them soon, whenever the former world champion once again returns to WWE TV.

Here is what he wrote:

“Words cannot describe how appreciative I am that the @WWEUniverse allowed me the opportunity to return and perform. Thank you staff, superstars, and most of all FANS for giving me an unforgettable summer at “home” with my “family”. The journey takes me away now but I’ll C U soon.”

Summer of Cena has seemingly come to an end

John Cena had made his return WWE Money in the Bank pay-per-view and was involved in a feud with Roman Reigns after his successful defense of the WWE Universal Championship against Edge at Money in the Bank.

The Summer of Cena was being promoted by WWE and they released a list of Cena appearaces including at the live events. After weeks of build up, Cena and Reigns collided at SummerSlam in Las Vegas.

‘The Leader of Cenation’ is currently scheduled for the September 10 SmackDown taping at Madison Square Garden. As per to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, WWE’s higher-ups are aware that beyond the MSG show, Cena is done with future appearances for the company because of his filming commitments. He is also set to star in Matthew Vaughn’s upcoming spy film, Argylle.
