Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz (24-2-1, 17 KOs) has guaranteed a spectacular show in his return to the ring when he takes on Giovanni Cabrera on Saturday, July 29 on the undercard of Errol Spence Jr vs. Terence Crawford, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Loss to Tank Davis wasn’t “convincing” says Isaac Cruz
It’s been 10 months since his last fight, and Cruz hopes to get a resounding victory against the undefeated Giovanni Cabrera, and thus be able to have a rematch against Gervonta Davis.
At a recent press conference, Cruz assured that if he beats Giovanni Cabrera on July 29th, his main objective will be to try a second fight against “Tank” Davis.
“I’m training hard as always and zeroing in on Giovanni Cabrera’s strengths and weaknesses,” said Cruz. “It’s an honor to be the co-main event of a fight that will be remembered forever in boxing lore. My plan is to go out there and put on a show for everyone watching. I’ll be ready. One round or 12 rounds, however long it lasts, it’s gonna be a great fight.”
“I’m gonna put on a show against Cabrera. It’s all part of my effort to close every door that Gervonta has available to escape from facing me again,” he went on, “I want to prove that I’m the best at 135 pounds.”
The Mexican boxer acknowledged that he will have a tough opponent in Cabrera at T-Mobile Arena, although he is confident in his preparation to come out with his hands up and continue on the road to a rematch with Davis.
“I’m really excited to win this fight so I can get to the next level of what I want to achieve. Giovanni is a quality fighter and he’s undefeated for a reason. I’m definitely not overlooking him, because he’s earned this shot,” he added. [H/T Bad Left Hook]
