Yuki Tsunoda entered the Japanese GP with high hopes and especially continued his momentum from the Australian GP where he finished 8th. Mercedes felt tired of the strategy of Yuki Tsunoda helped him to get the checked flag and score the championship point for him as well as etching his name into the record book.

Yuki Tsunoda, the Japanese driver, had an eventful race at his home Grand Prix. Initially starting in P10, he unfortunately slipped down to P12 during the first start. The choice of medium tires didn’t work in his favor as they lacked grip compared to the soft tires used by the cars around him.

“I’m feeling relieved. After I lost some positions on the first start, I felt a little disappointment for sure, but at the same time, I just focused on the second start. I had a good one and was able to make up a few positions. One of the big highlights was the pitstop. Our mechanics did a fantastic job, it was such a fast pitstop that allowed us to overtake two cars, and that’s insane!” Yuki Tsunoda said after the ace.
