A six round heavyweight exhibition match between Evander Holyfield and Kevin McBride has been added on the undercard of the upcoming Teófimo López vs. George Kambosos Jr title fight on 5th June.

The news was announced on Twitter by Ariel Helwani of ESPN, who cited official confirmation from Triller, which had hosted the spectacular Mike Tyson vs Roy Jones Jr bout back in November last year.

Since the success of Tyson vs Jones which also featured Jake Paul vs Nate Robinson on the undercard, Ryan Kavanaugh’s Triller has been a viral name in the global boxing fandom, and their popularity has gone up by leaps and bounds since winning the broadcasting rights for Teófimo vs Kambosos by outbidding both Top Rank and Matchroom Boxing.

The fight will mark Holyfield’s (44-10-2, 29 KOs) return to boxing a decade after he retired from the sport following a 10-round TKO victory over Brian Nielsen in May 2011 at Koncerthuset, Copenhagen, Denmark.

Triller reimagined boxing in a very exciting new way: Evander Holyfield

There were recent speculations that Holyfield’s comeback will be against his former rival Mike Tyson, the latter who himself has been eager to have his second exhibition bout after his mighty successful return against Jones in November.

“The Real Deal”, who conquered Tyson twice in the ring, was eager to complete the trilogy against his former nemesis as well on coming out of retirement. However, Holyfield will be squaring off against another gray boxer, Kevin McBride (35-10-1, 29 KOs), famous for winning Tyson’s final professional boxing bout.

“I am proud to be able to join Triller Fight Club as they are exactly what our industry needed. They have reimagined the sport of boxing in a very exciting new way,” Holyfield was quoted in a recent media release.

“Their combination of young talent, music, entertainment and special matchups is setting a new standard for our sport, and my return to the ring for this fight is one that everyone, myself included, will enjoy, and I am proud to help take this to the next level,” the former two-division undisputed champion of the world added.

The main card will feature WBA (Super), WBO, and IBF lightweight titleholder Teófimo López (16-0, 12 KOs) defending his belts against lesser-known undefeated Aussie contender George Kambosos Jr (19-0, 10 KOs).
