Hertha BSC, the Bundesliga side have taken an initiative to encourage the patients suffering from blood cancer and raise awareness for the same. The Hertha BSC players will sport a shirt which will read ‘für Pauline’ in their next match against Eintracht Frankfurt.
Hertha BSC starts campaign for blood cancer patients
‘für Pauline’ which translates to ‘For Pauline’ and two footprints would be seen on the chest of the players of the German side. The reason they will don the special shirt is deeply saddening.
It is for a little girl named, Pauline. She is aged eight months old and is suffering from leukaemia (blood cancer).
The club has started the campaign to spread awareness about the life-threatening disease. The motive is to encourage people to register and become stem-cell donors. This would help save the life of Pauline.

Alexander, Pauline’s father who has been the member of Herth BSC had mailed the club explaining the situation about his daughter’s fight with life.
He said, “Since I’ve been a Hertha member for a long time, I thought I would just write to the club by email. In such a situation you have nothing to lose.”
The club urged everyone to help them fight for the special cause on social media. Arne Friedrich, the Sports Director took to Twitter to explain and encourage everyone for registration.

Pauline’s family are thankful for the club’s endeavours towards the campaign. They expressed their gratitude and grateful for the efforts.
They said, “We are very happy and grateful that Hertha BSC has complied with our request.”
“Thanks to the wide reach of the club channels and even via a video call from sports director Arne Friedrich, our concern was made aware.”
They continued, “We would never have expected that Pauline is now represented on the jersey at the home game as a substitute for all sick people to draw attention to this important topic. Hertha BSC’s commitment is simply outstanding! ”
Hertha BSC have taken a great initiative that would not only help little Pauline battle the deadly disease but will also help promote the stem cells donations for blood cancer.
