The Eifel GP is the 7th victory for Lewis Hamilton this season, as the British racing icon now tops the leaderboard with 230 points as he edges closer to his 7th World Champion title, another feat of Schumacher.

Aston Martin Red Bull Racing driver Max Verstappen finishes 2nd, followed by Renault’s Daniel Ricciardo in 3rd, the latter who registered his first podium finish since 2018. Hamilton’s Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas, unfortunately, retired on the 19th lap.

“We had a good start, got up alongside Valtteri. I tried to give as much room as possible but then he was in my blind spot,” Hamilton worded in on his teammate after the race.
From playing Schumacher in videogames to holding his helmet: Lewis Hamilton on the unimaginable
Now with 91 GP victories, the 35-year-old driver has touched the 19-year-old record of Schumacher, whom he used to play as in videogames as a kid. Mick Schumacher, the son of the F1 legend presented Hamilton with a race helmet of Schumacher from 2012.

“I remember playing Michael on the game on Grand Prix 2 but seeing his dominance for so long… I don’t think anyone would imagine I would be anywhere near Michael,” said Hamilton after holding the helmet, “It’s going to have some time to get used to.”
