Unified Welterweight Champion of the world Errol Spence Jr (28-0, 22 KOs) is having high hopes on stepping into the squared circle against fellow 147-pounder Terence Crawford (38-0, 29KOs) this year.
Errol Spence Jr vs Terence Crawford is one of the most anticipated fights in modern boxing. The bout, which will see Spence’s WBC, WBA (Super) and IBF titles up against Crawford’s WBO belt, will crown professional boxing’s new undisputed welterweight champion.
Both undefeated pugilists have been calling for an encounter for a long time but unfortunately, all the pieces are yet to fall into place. However at the International Boxing Hall of Fame. last month, “Bud” stated that its Spence whom he is planning to take on up next.
“That’s the plan,” Crawford told The DAZN Boxing Show last month about facing Spence, “I think the time right now is the best time because it’s for all the marbles. Errol Spence has got three of the titles. I’ve got one. It would be for the undisputed. There wouldn’t be no other champion in the division.:
“I feel like this is the biggest moment for us two to fight,” Crawford went on, “Styles make fights. Me and Errol have got a different style. We fought Shawn Porter in two completely different styles. You never know.”
It’s definitely gonna go down this year: Errol Spence Jr
During the broadcast of SHOWTIME’s Rey Vargas vs Mark Magsayo fight card this Saturday night at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, Spence issued his response, stating that he believes the undisputed title fight will surely happen this year.
“I think it’s gonna happen. He wants the fight. I want the fight. It’s going down to negotiations. It’s definitely gonna go down this year. It’s the biggest fight in boxing. I don’t know where, I don’t know when [it will take place]. But it’s going down this year,” said Spence. [H/T Boxingscene.com]
