Drew Brees is cooked by Jeff Saturday on “Get Up.”

Must read

For the rest of the 2025 NFL season, Drew Brees has secured a regular position with ESPN, and his new teammates are already teasing the former New Orleans Saints quarterback.

Through the conclusion of the NFL season, Brees is expected to make an appearance on “First Take” at least every Tuesday. Earlier this week, he made a splash by claiming that the Philadelphia Eagles’ offense is “boring.” The 13-time Pro Bowl quarterback stated that he “can’t stand to watch that offense,” although acknowledging that he appreciates the Eagles and knows their formula has worked. His complete remarks are available for you to hear.

On Wednesday morning’s edition of “Get Up,” fellow ESPN analyst and former Pro Bowl player Jeff Saturday issued a fiery response to Brees.

“Let me just show you my shocked face — a quarterback saying that running the ball is not fun to watch. I mean, they have won 19 of 20 games doing it a certain way, and a Super Bowl, by the way, in the mix of all of this,” Brees said. “I guess winning is boring, but I like watching boring and I love to watch offensive line play, which is much more impressive to me.”

Saturday was the starting center for the Peyton Manning-led Indianapolis Colts when the team lost to Brees and the Saints in Super Bowl XLIV. He reminded Brees that New Orleans’ offense did a lot of dinking and dunking in that game.

“Let’s talk about Brees and the Saints, who I lost a Super Bowl to so I’m still salty about that. Sidney Slants and Checkdown Charlie and all this stuff, and we act like we’re just airing it out,” Saturday said. “I think they completed like 27 passes against us of 2 yards or less. That’s the same as running the ball, Drew.”

Brees knew what he was getting himself into at ESPN, so we doubt he is offended by anything Saturday said. Having analysts call one another out is part of the formula for any successful talk show. Saturday was just playing the game, as was Brees when he made his initial remarks about the Eagles.

Brees previously worked for NBC in 2021 as a studio analyst and play-by-play analyst for Notre Dame games. He has said he believes he is capable of being one of the best broadcasters in the business. We can expect plenty more hot takes from him as he tries to build his media brand at ESPN.
