Former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder is all up for locking horns against Anthony Joshua in Saudi Arabia on the world’s top four heavyweight mega card, promising a knockout of Joshua.
“Let’s make it happen,” Wilder said in an interview for ESNews. “If that’s being negotiated, let’s make it happen.”
And when asked what would happen in a fight with Anthony Joshua in Saudi Arabia, the “Bronze Bomber” vows to knock them out.
“What could we expect, bro?” Wilder asked his trainer Malik Scott, who was standing next to him. And Scott made the three-finger sign.
“(Knockout in) less than three rounds,” Wilder responded.
I will give the Saudis their first knockout victim: Deontay Wilder
The two heavyweight super fights that have taken place in Saudi Arabia so far were the rematch between Anthony Joshua and Andy Ruiz, and the rematch between Joshua himself with Oleksandr Usyk. Both fights went to a decision.
All that being said, Wilder plans to change this course of events.
“I’m going to put it sweetly,” Wilder said. “I will give the Saudis their first knockout victim. I can deliver that victim to you. They haven’t had a lot of emotions knockout-wise. I am going to give you that blessing. With any Deontay Wilder fight you can expect that, but this one is going to be really special. I have something special that I’m going to put to my punch in this one.”
Shelly Finkel, Deontay Wilder’s manager, confirmed her team’s interest in facing Anthony Joshua in Saudi Arabia as part of that mega card between the best heavyweights in the world.
Within the plan being sought in Saudi Arabia is for Deontay Wilder to fight Anthony Joshua on the same card that Oleksandr Usyk fights Tyson Fury for the undisputed heavyweight title.
“Deontay has wanted to fight Joshua for a long time, and of course he is willing to fight him in Saudi Arabia,” Finkel told Sky Sports.
