Deontay Wilder thinks he sees more punching power in Jermell Charlo than in Canelo Alvarez.

Canelo, the undisputed champion at 168, will have his 64th match as a professional in facing another undisputed champion in Charlo, who is the undisputed champion of the 154-pound division and the only one in history within the division.

The fight, which will take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, is also the first undisputed vs. undisputed clash in the four-belt era of professional boxing, and the belts that will be up for grabs are Canelo’s WBC, WBA, WBO and IBF titles at super middleweight.

The fight is touted to be one of the biggest boxing matches of the year and has high expectations from the fans, with some having their money on Canelo, while the rest believe that Charlo has the ability to secure the 168-pound throne from the Mexican.

I want to be in person to see that fight: Deontay Wilder

While the “Bronze Bomber” acknowledges that Canelo vs. Charlo will be a great fight and he wants to be present ringside, he does see Charlo having an advantage in the punching power, when compared to Canelo.

“I think it’s going to be a great fight, it’s going to be a very good fight,” Wilder said in an interview for ESNEWS. “I want to attend that fight, if my schedule allows it, I want to be in person to see that fight. I like that fight.”

Even though Charlo will be moving up from 154 to 168 pounds to face Canelo, Wilder sees more punching power in Charlo than in Canelo.

“They are two great fighters, they are two aggressive guys,” the former WBC heavyweight champ went on, “I think Charlo is a little more aggressive than Canelo. I think Canelo throws more and better combinations than Charlo. However, Charlo has more punching power.”

All that being said, regarding his prediction on who will come out victorious, Wilder admits that he isn’t sure what the outcome will be, though he thinks the fight will go until the final bell.

“That’s my opinion as I analyze the fight,” Wilder added. “As for who’s going to win, I think it’s going to be decided, but damn, I see the fight can go either way.”.
