Milwaukee Bucks point guard Damian Lillard recently had a memorable outing at the 2024 NBA All-Star Game. He bagged the 2024 NBA All-Star Game Kobe Bryant MVP Award. However, many in attendance at Gainbridge Fieldhouse were not in favor of Lillard being named the best player of the game.
Damian Lillard gets a negative reaction
While he was receiving the award, Damian Lillard was showered with boos as fans were expecting Tyrese Haliburton to win the trophy. It’s no surprise that fans wanted Haliburton as he plays for the Indiana Pacers.

Damian Lillard had an amazing display and led the way for the East with 39 points on 14-for-26 shooting from the field, including 11 made 3-pointers on 23 attempts from behind the arc.
Meanwhile, Haliburton finished with 32 points on 11-for-15 shooting from the floor and 10-for-14 from 3-point distance. Jaylen Brown also came off the bench and contributed 36 points for the East, which won the game 211-186.
“Any time you’re mentioned in the same category as Mike, it’s an honor, and it’s a major accomplishment, even if it’s All-Star Weekend,” Lillard said postgame with his MVP trophy. “If it was that simple, more people would have done it since 1988. So that’s a major compliment for me to be mentioned in the same conversation as far as that.”
Damian Lillard had to adjust to changes as moved from the West Coast to the Midwest and has been through a couple of head coaches.
“Like you said, it’s been a tough year, just the transition, being on a new team…” Lillard said. “I think any time you have these types of experiences where you have an adversity and things not just flowing like you expect it to or like you would want it to, I think that’s the time you’ve got to just show who you really are. You’ve got to keep doing what you do, keep believing. When you do that, usually it comes back to you. There’s some type of reward that comes forward.”
Lillard’s performance at the All-Star Game also gives Bucks fans high hopes about his form for the second half of the 2023-24 NBA season. H’s performance was not up to the mark at end of the first half of the campaign. With this performance, Lillard could gain momentum heading into the second half of the campaign. He has managed to shoot just 42.1 percent from the field and a salty 31.7 percent from the 3-point area in his last 10 games.
