The boxing fandom did not really expect how the Jake Paul vs Tyron Woodley fight on 29th August went down. While Jake Paul was coming off of his undefeated three fight streak against non-boxers and Woodley was another opponent who never donned the boxing gloves professionally, the former UFC welterweight champion was looked at the toughest challenge that the YouTuber-turned-pro was going to face, with many assuming that Woodley would be the first to give Jake the taste of defeat.

However, at the end of the eight round bout, it was Jake who clinched another victory by split decision. If this was not surprising for many in the combat sports fandom, Dillon Danis reveals that Woodley wasn’t even allowed to knock Jake Paul out as per the contract.

Dillon Danis points out how Tyron Woodley avoided knocking out Jake Paul

Woodley, who has been one of the best welterweights of this generation, seemingly lacked the same amount of aggression towards Jake which raised many eyebrows in the wake of the fight and during one point of the match, he did not land one haymaker on Jake despite the latter bring against the ropes which would have given Woodley a clean victory.

Touching on the same notion, Dillon Danis revealed on The MMA Hour that contractually, Woodley was barred from knocking out Jake during the fight. As the fight went the distance, ‘The Problem Child’ took home his fourth pro win after he was awarded the scores of 77-75 and 78-74, while Woodley secured the favour from the third judge, 77-75.

“Tyron Woodley, from what I heard, had it in the contract that he was not allowed to knock out Jake Paul,” said Danis, “I swear on anything he was against the ropes, I swear, that’s why when Jake Paul was against the ropes, Tyron Woodley didn’t hit him.”

“I’m telling you right now. It was in his contract where it said you’re not allowed to knock him out,” the 28-year-old added. [H/T GiveMeSport]
