After winning the title against Lance Archer at Double Or Nothing, he went on to make successful defenses of the championship against challengers such as Jungle Boy, Marq Quen, Ricky Starks and Jake Hager.

His next challenger is Sonny Kiss. Cody tweeted Kiss’ strengths and abilities, yet reminded everyone that he stands no chance to win the championship against ‘The American Nightmare’.

““Strongest legs in the company great balance, and explosive/flush offense(ie 450) when he executes,” wrote Rhodes. “Really talented and untested. Still…doesn’t stand a chance,” Cody tweeted, ahead of the title match at Fight For The Fallen.

His tweet came as a reply to Taz’s praise for Sonny Kiss. “IMO @SonnyKissXO is one of the more difficult competitors to prepare for on our roster as he has a very unconventional style but yet extremely effective!  @CodyRhodes gotta be doing lots of prep as he defends his #TNTChampionship,” Taz, who is now the manager for Brian Cage, tweeted.

Cody went on to stand up for Kiss against a ‘fan’ who had problem with a homosexual in Kiss winning a title in AEW. “If you have a problem with a gay man receiving a title shot, you can kiss my a– I’m proud to share the ring with Sonny,” he tweeted.
