AEW star and EVP Cody Rhodes is one of the top stars of the promotion. Any talent in any promotion fights for the ultimate prize in the promotion. ‘The American Nightmare’ is no exception and wants to capture the AEW World Championship. But a decision he took in the past in AEW is barring him from challenging for the title which is currently held by Kenny Omega. Cody Rhodes had faced Chris Jericho for the AEW world title at Full Gear last year with the stipulation being a defeat would refrain him from challenging for the AEW world championship ever again. He had lost the match and he never got a shot at the title again.

During an interview with Popculture, Cody Rhodes talked about keeping his word of not challenging for the AEW world title ever again. But ‘The American Nightmare’ added that if AEW President Tony Khan decides to overturn the stipulation, he might challenge for the title down the road.

“I’m not going back on my word to challenge for the title. That stuff was real. It hurts. It is a large regret that that ever happened, but it did happen and I can live with it. And I got to do that dance with Chris Jericho, and I will not go back on that stipulation, me personally. If Tony wanted to change things, he could. And again, you can never say never in wrestling,” said Cody Rhodes.
