As the IBF super-middleweight world champion Caleb Plant (21-0, 12 KOs) prepares for the toughest challenge in his career this 6th November in the undisputed championship clash against unified titlist Canelo Alvarez, the American has already been engaged with verbal clashes with the Mexican, which even turned into some hand to hand altercation back in September which ended up giving Plant a bruise on his face. ‘Sweethands’, however, is already planning to avenge it all and says their encounter will be providing Canelo with some “lessons”.
During a news conference last month which served as a promo to the highly anticipated four-belt unification fight, saw Canelo and Plant turning a verbal exchange into trading blows.
The ceremonial face-off, hosted in the garden of the Beverly Hilton, saw Canelo pushing Plant away after the two got into an oral altercation. Plant stepped forward and attempted a left hook at Canelo, who dodged it and returned with his left hand, tossing away Plant’s sunglasses which also gave the American boxer a cut on his cheek.
Now, in a recent interview with FightHub TV, Caleb Plant revisited his encounter with Canelo last month, detailing what had taken place between the two elites at 168 prior to them meeting each other in the squared circle.
“What led to my escalation was him pushing me,” said Plant, “if you put your hands on me in that manner. Maybe a lot of you would disagree. You’re going to retaliate. So, why he got so irritated and lost his cool is a question for him.” [H/T Boxing News 24]
In the aftermath of the altercation, Canelo had claimed that Plant was going after his mother during the verbal exchange, even posting a tweet on the same notion: “Don’t talk about my mom.”

Caleb Plant sees the undisputed super-middleweight crown as his destiny
While Caleb Plant did not touch upon that bit about Canelo’s mother, he did convert into speaking about what can and will take place on 6th November at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, and with the undisputed crown just one hurdle away from Plant, he does see it as his destiny.
“It’ll be a fair shake, and the right winner will walk away, and that’s me. It’s going to be indescribable. I literally feel like this is my destiny,” Plant elaborated on the undisputed title at 168, “that’s what I feel like I’m walking into, and I’m literally about to walk in a fulfill my destiny. This is something I genuinely believe in my head and truly believe in my heart.”
“I’m just waiting for November 6th for that bell to ring so that I can go out there and fulfill that. It’s going to be. And it’s going to mean a lot. It’s going to be a lot of lessons that night,” Plant added. [H/T Boxing News 24]
