Arthur Melo, who had arrived at Camp Nou to support his teammates was sent back home by the club officials. The player’s name was reportedly not on the list of personnel allowed and hence Arthur had to follow the match on television.

The midfielder was subjected to a highly controversial move to Juventus with Miralem Pjanic heading to Camp Nou in exchange. Arthur returned back to his native country of Brazil after revealing that he had no desire to represent Barcelona in the Champions League.

After having returned back to Spain on Friday, the player was asked to test for coronavirus. The club officials claim that Arthur was not allowed into the stadium since the results of the test are yet to come while others claim that the absence of his name from the list was the solitary reason.

Barcelona board member Guillermo Amor was asked about Arthur’s situation. He stated:

“Arthur did not come when he had to, he did not pass the coronavirus tests with UEFA, so that’s why he was not on the list to be here today. We’ll see what happens. What counts is today’s game and then Arthur’s case will be discussed.”

Arthur’s absence did not impact Barcelona for now

Barcelona eased their way past Napoli after a 3-1 win at Camp Nou. Goals from Clement Lenglet, Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez cemented the Catalans’ place in the last eight of the competition.

Luis Suarez claims that he is looking forward to the riveting clash against Bundesliga Champions in the next round. In the post-match interview, he said:

“In a single game, any team can go through. The tie is 50-50. Bayern are a great team but so we are.”

The striker was content with the first-half performance which paved the way for the win. He added:

“The most important thing is that we are through to the next round, our only objective was to qualify. In the second half, we knew what would happen. We have to be satisfied with the great first half we played.”,

His teammate Sergio Busquets had expressed his puzzlement over Arthur not returning back to Barcelona after his fate to Serie A was sealed. Arthur will now play under the newly appointed manager of Juventus, Andrea Pirlo from the next season.
