In one of the biggest boxing events of this year, unified world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua will be defending his WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO titles against former undisputed cruiserweight champion Oleksandr Usyk and the bout is set to take place on 25th September at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Anthony Joshua: One last hurdle before the undisputed fight against Tyson Fury
Anthony Joshua was last seen in action against Kubrat Pulev on 12th December last year at SSE Arena in London, marking a 9th round TKO victory over the Bulgarian. AJ was then pitted against WBC champion Tyson Fury for the undisputed heavyweight crown.
Although the much anticipated fight reaching legitimate talks and even a date and venue, it had to be chucked after former WBC champion Deontay Wilder won his arbitration case for a Trilogy against Fury, essentially rendering Joshua without a fight to prepare for.
After much speculations and a shortlist of the probable pugilists that were listed as potential opponents for Joshua, the fight against Oleksandr Usyk, the mandatory challenger with the World Boxing Organization was ordered.
Usyk, the undefeated Ukrainian who goes by the nickname “The Cat”, was last seen in action against Derek Chisora on 31st October last year at the English capital, where he won the WBO Inter-Continental heavyweight title via unanimous decision.

Joshua’s promoter and Matchroom MD Eddie Hearn has confirmed that the broadcast will start off around 7 pm, with the Briton’s ring walk taking place around 10 pm.
