Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis expressed his dismay at losing to the Brooklyn Nets at home in a 130-112 outcome. He shared his thoughts on the ‘terrible’ defense at display on Friday night.

At the onset of the game, the Lakers looked strong and gained a 37-28 lead after the first 12 minutes. However, in the third quarter, the team lost its coordination and lost the edge by a score of 38-22. Lakers fans were enraged when the team dropped 100 points by the 3rd quarter for the 6th time this season.

The LA Lakers are struggling to get their defensive shape right and to get back on track they need to make effective changes to their roster. Following the crushing defeat, Anthony Davis spoke with the media and shared a statement (h/t Spectrum SportsNet). Here is what Davis said:

“Our defense was terrible. In the third quarter especially. Second half overall, but third quarter especially. Once them guys start getting confidence and playing free, it was tough for us to come back, especially when we’re missing shots.”

Los Angeles Lakers coach Darvin Ham has acknowledged that the team needs to work on various aspects of their game if they want to make a deep run in the current NBA season. This could mean exploring the possibility of trading for new players before the league deadline, as well as improving the overall depth and strength of the squad.
