Corinthians faced Fluminense on the Matchday 10 of Campeonato Brasileiro Série A on Sunday, September 13 at Maracanã Stadium. The match ended with Corinthians suffering a 2-1 loss against Fluminense. After the match, fans were furious about the match result and tried attacking the Corinthians players on their way to the team bus. They had to be escorted by Police.

Corinthians faced a 2-1 defeat against Fluminense in Rio, that marks as the second consecutive loss after they were smashed 2-0 by the rivals, Palmeiras.

Nene, the former PSG player scored the opening goal in the eight minutes of the match to give Fluminense the lead. He was able to tuck the ball inside the goal after a cross into the box.

The 39-year-old converted from the penalty spot in the 88th minute to add on to the lead.

Lucas Barcellos, the Fluminense striker was shown a red card in the 92nd minute after a heavy tackle near the penalty box.

The 10-men Fluminense conceded a late goal after Mateus Vital was able to find the back of the net and give his side a consolation goal in the 95th minute.

The disappointing loss in Rio angered the fans. Following the match, when the Corinthians players were on their way to the team bus, fans started verbally harassing the players and attempted to assault them. Luckily, the cops at the spot got the circumstance under control.

Corinthians are currently positioned at 14th having nine points in nine matches. The club sacked the former boss, Tiago Nunes after the 40-year-old was only able to help his team get two wins in eight matches.

Dyego Coelho, the club’s under-20 coach has now been appointed as the caretaker manager. They are set to host Bahia in their next fixture.
